There are times when you need to reconsider the value of things you possess because you have become so used to it with time that they don’t arouse any feelings at all now. Once what used to fascinate us now just looks old with wrinkles, once favorite now lies somewhere inside a trunk in garage. Similarly there are times where we are so used to routineness of certain things that we don’t even think they might not be with us some day. The pain of loss is then realized which doesn’t help its cause.
I felt something like what I said above when I saw this Amnesty print advertisement about the dwindling girl population in India. It is mortifying that something of this nature happens in India but I was more embarassed with this fact that this ad was made by an Austrian ad agency(Demner,Merlicek & Bergmann,Vienna) and less about the real problem. The videshi ad conveys the problem so eloquently with the image of an Indian girl that some Indians might find this a shame of highest degree(me amongst them). Period.
